Googly for Google?

At last a competitor for Google?? Here comes previewSeek, a super search engine that uses Bayesian statistical data mining, word-sense disambiguation, cognitive visualization theory, heterogeneous database querying technologies, and behavioral psychology all made possible by 20+ yrs of research into AI. Well, thats what the developers in UK have to say about this -> About Previewseek

Aha! Getting toooooo technical isn’t it?. Namma cosmic energy coupled with atomic energy thaan nyabagathukku varuthu :-).

Previewseek categorizes search results by relevance. I did a search on Mainframe and boy, I had results categorized beautifully on the left, into Computers, Systems, Technology, COBOL, Users, H/w, Downloads and many more. So if I need something about the latest info on Z/OS, I would just click Technology and look further. Sounds cool isnt it? Thats AI for you. If you would like info on Java, here we go. Java as coffee, the programming language, as the Indonesian island etc., That would perhaps make previewseek, once launched, a cut above the rest. Yes yes, its still a beta version.

And once you get the search results, there is a micro screenshot of each search result. Hmm... So looks like these guys are all set to give Google a run for its money. Lets wait and watch. After all, this healthy competition is going to make life absolutely easy for mankind. :-)

Check it out… Previewseek

yup.. definitely.. google always rocks.. but when previewseek is out we wud have a good alternative just in case a google search bombs... but as a google loyalist, i would expect previewseek also to bomb with the same search :-)

PreviewSeek is good, but what makes Google tick is that they are now synonymous with search.

Moreover, PreviewSeek would find it tough to emulate the revenue model of the Big 3 - Google, Yahoo and MSN. I expect that PreviewSeek will reach some level of popularity after which someone will buy them out.

the narcissist that i am, i entered "karthik guruswamy" in previewseek. in the left nav pane, i got "Karthik" and then "Quit his job"... courtesy: VK
Huh! Is that some inkling of intelligence? maybe soon, we would have predictors that gather all our data and say... hey karthik is gonna quit his job in 2 years... karthik's gonna go broke and stuff like that... that' interesting for research too.

whereas "Shankar Sridhar" didn't get any meaningful results... "Kamini Santhanagopalan" led to Kamini, currently elected General Secretary of Indian Students Association,Virginia Tech.

"Anand Kumaraswamy" - Desperate, Anand masquerades as a Tamilian, Anand Kumaraswamy, and finds a place to stay with a Tamilian family. There he meets the daughter of the South... =))
and ofcourse aani's blogger profile.

hmm... lots of problems to be cleared... the idea is cool though!
